Contagion was released back in 2011, showcasing a disease that is very similar to what we are now witnessing.

The very similarities include:

These all things grabbed the attention of already scared people at home and all around, thinking about how could a simple virus shown in a movie could be so realistic and now deadly.

Contagion movie does not only depicts the start of a viral pandemic but also shows that in just a month the situation gets worsen and the supply of food is scarce, millions have died, people are going to every extent to save themselves, even by killing others, no one trusts anyone. But this happened because they didn’t take safety measures from the beginning; they all panicked, and the situation slipped through their hands.

A vaccine was found but after the deaths of the majority.

Though the movie is claimed to be very much scientifically accurate and fact-checked than other Hollywood movies, however, we still need to follow experts at WHO. Thanks to the knowledge about how to prevent it from spreading further, countries have started the stay home stay safe lockdown campaign, possibly changing the movie’s horrific parts to a better and a safer option for us in such a crisis.

But a vaccine is needed to not let the movie become a reality. Stay safe, keep your distance, do not touching your face, and practice social distancing. We’ll get through this.

Contagion (2011) is now available on Netflix.
