Joaquin Phoenix says losing weight impacted his psychology

Joaquin Phoenix is preparing for his upcoming Joker movie in which he has taken up the role of Gotham City super-villain. The premiere of the movie was held at the Venice Film Festival. As a dedicated performer, Phoenix has an excellent reputation in the industry. According to the reports, the actor has lost 52 lbs so that he can achieve the proper physique required for the role.

In Hollywood, there is no such actor who would go this far for a role but according to Joaquin Phoenix, losing weight for the role was an extremely important part of the process. Speaking at the Venice Film Festival press conference, Phoenix said that losing weight was necessary in order to get a grip on the character. Furthermore, he added:

“The first thing was the weight loss, that’s really what I started with. As it turns out, that impacts your psychology, and you really start to go mad when you lose that much weight in that amount of time. There’s also a book about political assassins that I thought was interesting, and breaks down the different types of personalities that do those sorts of things.”

Joaquin Phoenix wants to make his performance impactful and unique for which he lost a lot of weight. Moreover, the performance delivered by the actor in the movie is being widely praised by the audience and Phoenix is already in the best actor conversations of people.

The actor furthermore added to his conversation that:

“Throughout the course of shooting, every day felt like we were discovering new aspects of the character and shades of his personality, up until the very last day.”

In the movie Joker, Joaquin Phoenix is playing the role of a mentally ill loner who lives with his mother in the Gotham city apartment. He is a narcissist who always sought the spotlight. The movie is about to be released nationwide on October 4th, 2019.
