Previously when Spider-Man was excluded from the MCU, the fans were really disappointed but breathed a sigh of relief when the return of Spider-man in MCU was announced. After a series of negotiations, Spider-man has been included into MCU again last week. The ‘Spider-man: Far From Home’ star, Tom Holland has played a vital role in Sony and Marvel reaching a new deal that resulted in the return of Spider-man to Marvel.

According to sources such as The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland has made several appeals to the CEO of Disney, Robert Iger and Sony film’s chairman, Tom Rothman to rethink over their partnership regardless of the idea that last month the chances of Spider-man returning to MCU were almost nil.

Tom Holland’s hard work paid off when on September 27th, Marvel announced that in collaboration with Sony it would produce a third Spider-Man movie. Marvel’s President, Kevin Feige said last week:

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe.”

The CEO of Disney, Robert Iger appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ yesterday on his Thursday’s episode where he discussed about Tom Holland’s last minute appeal to lock a deal for the return of Spider-Man along with other things that included his memoir, ‘The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons learned from 15 years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company’.

When Jimmy Kimmel asked Robert Iger about how Tom Holland became the center of attention upon the return of Spider-Man to the MCU, he said:

“We had an event called D-23 and Tom [Holland] was there because he’s a voice in a new Pixar movie called Onward. He said something and it was clear that the fans wanted Tom back as Spider-Man. It was clear that he cared so much. He’s a great Spider-Man.”

At the D-23 expo, Tom Holland and Robert Iger exchanged numbers and e-mails so that they could speak on the matter. Iger said that after speaking with Holland he made some phone calls before reaching out the head of Sony. He realized that during negotiations between companies the other people who actually matter are neglected.

He further added:

“I felt for him and it was clear that the fans wanted all of this to happen.”

Finally, Marvel will be producing a third Spider-Man movie and its expected date of release is 16th July,2021. Disney will earn 25% of the net gross amount on the third Spider-Man movie.
